The co-investment operations is a fund in partnership with other investors.
The co-investment fund for SMEs, this fund will invest in companies in which other venture capital investors are also investing by acquiring stakes in these companies. These investments are called co-investment.
The fund will invest after or at the same time as the co-investors’ investment. The co-investors must submit the expected goals of the investment and the underlying requirements in the form of a well-prepared plan.
200M is a Portuguese co-investment fund. It was supported by an initial capital investment of €100 million from the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF). It aims to facilitate the creation and the financing of Small and Medium Enterprises
The co-investor can only apply to the investment in a company if he can match or exceed the amount invested by the fund.
According to Diário da República, 1.ª série — N.º 193 — 6 de Outubro de 2017 (Article 2, C), the fund and the co-investor can only invest an amount equal or lower than the half of the company capital.
If the investment conditions are subjects to change, the co-investors must submit a new request.
To decide which companies to invest in, the fund has an investment committee, together they evaluate which projects they should support.
